Maggi Free Of Ash Content Says The Manufacturer Nestle
With Maggi failing laboratory tests recently in Uttar Pradesh and ash content been found in the popular instant noodles, Nestle has stated on Monday that the product is free of ash. The current issue faced by Maggi may not be as big as the ban two years ago but the incident has refreshed the bittersweet memories in which the brand got a clean chit and got back as the leading noodle brand in the India market.
Maggi Completely Fine For Consumption
When the Maggi lab tests failed a spokesperson had said, “We have been informed that the samples are of the year 2015 and the issue pertains to ‘ash content’. This appears to be a case of application of incorrect standards, and we will file an appeal urgently once we receive the order”. Now the FMCG major Nestle India has stepped up to back its popular product.
“Nestle wishes to categorically state that we do not add ash in any form whatsoever during the manufacturing process of Maggi noodles,” Nestle India CMD Suresh Narayanan told PTI. A fine was imposed on Nestle India and its distributors last week after the instant noodles failed the lab test that found ash content which was way above the permissible levels for human consumption.
Soon after another statement was issued by a Maggi spokesperson that the noodle brand does not contain ash at all. “We wish to reassure our consumers that MAGGI Noodles are 100% safe for consumption. We strongly reiterate that at no stage of the manufacturing process, ASH is added to MAGGI Noodles. It is a case of applying standards basis an old advisory issued in 2015. Now, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has laid standards for Instant Noodles, Pasta and Seasoning. MAGGI noodles are fully compliant with this. While we have not yet received the order passed by the Adjudication Officer, we understand from the information available that the relevant samples are of the year 2015 and the issue pertains to “Ash content”,” he said.
The spokesperson also added, “In the spirit of complete transparency and basis information available, we are sharing with this statement a summary comparison of the analysis reports (which appeared to have been used by the adjudication officer). As you will notice, MAGGI Noodles is fully compliant with the standards set by FSSAI. MAGGI Noodles have always been safe for consumption and will continue to be.”
