Meet The Ass Kicker, A Coffee 80 Times Stronger Than A Standard Espresso
Australia is at it again!
Coffee lovers everywhere, if you’ve become immune to the wonders of your daily coffee, maybe it’s time to move to Adelaide, Australia. Why? Because Viscous Café in the city has introduced a new coffee that is equal to 80 cups of your standard coffee.
According to Mashable Australia, this beverage was first made for a nurse in an emergency department who needed something to help her stay awake. The nurse consumed the coffee over two days and it managed to keep her awake for three days in total. Obviously coffee that can keep a person awake for that many days is not ideal, so owner of Viscous Café Steve Benington told newspapers, The Advertiser, that he’s “toned it down a little” bit to be sold in his cafe, but the drink still comes with a warning letting customers know that it’s not for the faint-hearted.
The Ass Kicker is an iced coffee that contains 5g of caffeine and is created using 4 shots of espresso, 8 frozen cubes of cold drip coffee some 10-day brewed liquid cold-drop coffee. The frozen cubes each contain the caffeine equivalent of more than two shots of espresso. Talk about a lethal weapon!
According to reports and reviews of customers, the beverage lives up to its name of being the strongest coffee, but they also say that it could pose a serious health risk if consumed too quickly. For a healthy adult, the fatal dose of caffeine is considered to be roughly 18g while consumed over a 1-2 hour period. The Ass Kicker in a large size is recommended to be consumed over a 3-4 hour period.
The cafe even has the coffee available in different sizes with important information to keep in mind. Benington adds that he “offers custom caffeine levels tailored to personal requirements.”
Small – recommended to be consumed within 1-2 hours to remain awake for 6-9 hours
Medium – recommended to be consumed within 3-4 hours to remain awake for 9-12 hours
Large – recommended to be consumed within 3-4 hours to remain awake for 12-18 hours
