Men Consuming Fruits And Veggies Smell More Attractive To Women Says Study
A new study conducted by Macquarie University in Sydney says that women find the sweaty scent of men who consume fruits and vegetables, attractive. Not only this, consumption of fat, meat and tofu is linked to pleasant smelling sweat according to the same study whereas carbs were associated with less pleasant smell.
“We’ve known for a while that odor is an important component of attractiveness, especially for women. Women basically found that men who ate more vegetables smelled nicer,” Ian Stephen, who helped conduct the small study, said in a recent interview with NPR.
During the study, male participants were asked to record their diet after which they were asked to participate in two methods to determine who had the best-smelling sweat. Scientists made use of a spectrophotometer in the first method. This device, by flashing a light can determine carotenoid-rich skin. The high levels of carotenoid-rich skin meant that the men were eating more of fruits and vegetables which is found to be attractive.
To conduct the second test, the men were asked to work out and their sweaty t-shirts were given to women to determine as to which smell was the best. Needless to say the ones who consumed fruits and vegetables came out to the best smelling individuals.
