The bold demonteization move has boosted cashless transactions all across the country. With various vendors and retail stores going cashless, now Mother Dairy and Safal booths in the Delhi-NCR region have fully geared up for cashless transactions. Residents of this region will now be able to make their daily purcheses of milk, fruits, vegetables, and groceries with ease.
This digital payment option has been made available at more than 97 percent of the 800 Mother Dairy booths and at 324 Safal booths across the city.
According to Sandeep Ghosh, Business Head at Mother Dairy, they had started a cashless transaction drive back in 2014 – two years before the demonetization hit out economy. They had carried this move out at such an early stage with the aim to ease change management issues for consumers as well as booth operators. They did this by initially letting customers pay through SBI SmartChange cards, then later on through the Paytm mobile wallet app.
“With the recent fillip to cashless transactions, these transaction modes has gained patronage with our customers and we are also helping them to go cashless for buying milk, vegetable, fruits and grocery items like edible oil, pulses etc. We have seen a rise of 3 times usage of these modes of transaction in the last few weeks,” said Mr. Ghosh in a statement to the Economic Times.
