This New Black Ice Cream Is Delicious And Also A Hangover Cure!

Black ice cream isn’t such a stretch. It’s something that we have seen before, but it’s now doing so much more than just looking good. In New York, Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream introduced black ice cream made using coconut ash. But this time around, it’s a little different.

Scratch Restaurants in Encino, California has created a brand new ice cream flavor available in a cone. It’s made with coconut milk, homemade sprinkles and activated charcoal – which is what gives it the distinctive black colour.

Served at the end of Scratch’s tasting menu, it’s the perfect way to end your meal or even as a hangover cure! Owner, Margarita Kallas-Lee told Vice’s Munchies, “Whenever I was feeling ill or she wanted me to detox, [my grandmother] always gave me charcoal. It creates this beautiful color and it also is unbelievable for you to have after dinner.”

And if that’s not enough, the colourful sprinkles that go on top of the ice cream are handmade from turmeric and spirulina which is both healthy and colourful!
