The Oberoi, New Delhi Is Back In Action & How
After almost 2 years of uninterrupted renovation and remodeling, The Oberoi New Delhi finally resumed operations on Monday, 1st January 2018 after a multi-million dollar transformation. With designer Adam D. Tihany at the helm, the makeover began shortly after The Oberoi celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016.
Tihany drew inspiration from Edward Lutyens’ modernist vision to transform the 220 rooms, which includes 34 suites, making them more spacious and luxurious with abundant natural light. Furthermore, the hotel now also features advanced air filters throughout its property for fresher and cleaner air (something Delhi really needs right now!) among many other new additions.
Something New For The Palate
Standing tall at the hard-to-miss corner location along Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, the hotel has also brought on board something new for the palate. The Oberoi has teamed up with two globally renowned chefs to launch Omya, an authentic Indian restaurant that prides itself with a spread put together by acclaimed Chef Alfred Prasad, who held a Michelin star for thirteen years; and Baoshuan, a Chinese fine dine that carries a menu curated by Chef Andrew Wong of the famed ‘A. Wong’ Michelin star restaurant.
To further draw the food and drink-loving crowd, the hotel has launched Cirrus9, a rooftop bar that will shake up some interesting drinks to be paired with a breathtaking view of the Capital. And needless to say, Oberoi’s ThreeSixtyOne has also made a comeback with its iconic style and ambience in tow.
P.R.S. Oberoi, Executive Chairman, The Oberoi Group said, “We are pleased to re-open The Oberoi, New Delhi, a hotel that offers the highest standards of luxury and hospitality. The opening is a significant moment for us. When my late father Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi opened the hotel in the autumn of 1965, he wished it to be the most modern luxury hotel. I am confident that The Oberoi, New Delhi will continue this tradition.”
