Passenger Finds Lizard In His Food While Travelling By Poorva Express
Indian Railways is again facing flak for food being sold to the passengers. Only about a week has passed that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said that the food sold by Railway is unfit for human consumption in its audit report. And now a passenger on board the Poorva Express found a lizard in his vegetable biryani.
The contract of the caterers RK Associates was terminated after a 48 hour notice. They have apparently paid fines to railways, Rs. 10 lakh last year and Rs. 7.5 lakh this year. This revelation came in a series of tweets by the Ministry of Railways along with the announcement that the contract has been terminated.
The passenger who found the lizard had complained and tweeted a complaint about the issue to the railway minister. “Ordered food in Mokama and found this. I complained to the TTE, canteen manager, and tweeted it to the railway minister,” said the passenger in his tweet. According to him, he was given the medicine late.
The incident took place near Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh and post the tweet, DRM Kanpur Division assured that action will be taken. “A check-up was done in Danapur Division and he was given medicine. Action will be taken after investigation,” said Kishor Kumar, DRM Danapur Division to India Today.
