Pazhayidom Caterers Plans To Begin Exporting Traditional Kerala Snacks
One of Kerala’s leading caterers, Pazhayidom Caterers is planning to enter the export and restaurant business. It will focus on pure vegetarian fare.
Pazhayidom: The Story
Owned by Pazhayidom Namboothiri, Pazhayidom is a leading vegetarian caterer which serves approximately 30,000 people a day for events like marriages and tea parties. It is also popular amongst students; it caters for youth festivals, sports meets and international seminars.
Pazhaiydom also gives away food to devotees at the Harippad Nagaraja temple.
The Pazhayidom menu includes authentic Kerala dishes like Thoran, Erissery, Olan, Aviyal, Kootucurry and Prippu, Pal Payasam and Semiya Payasam.
Expansion Plans
Pahayidom is planning to expand with a two pronged approach. First, it’s looking at establishing itself as a restaurant brand. It’s opened a vegetarian restaurant in Idukkki and plans to open two more restaurants in Cochin and Bangalore.
Additionally, it is planning to export frozen snacks and Kerala feast items to Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
Commenting on the expansion, Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboothiri said “We are planning to send the first consignment to Australia in October as the response for Kerala dishes in that market is encouraging. The items exported will be frozen snacks, and Kerala traditional feast items like kalan, pachadi, sambar and so on…”
