on

In a recent study undertaken in California and France has been able to find that meat protein is shown to have increase a risk of heart disease, but the proteins from nuts and seeds is quite the opposite. As reported by Science Daily, these researchers have found that protein from nuts and seeds is actually good for the human heart.

Nuts And Seeds For Heart Health

The study which has been recently published in the International Journal of Epidemiology has developed that people consuming a large amount of meat protein have got a rise in risk of cardiovascular diseases by 60 percent. On the other hand, the same study concludes that the people who consumed large amounts of proteins that came from nuts and seeds had a decline in the risk of cardiovascular disease by 40 percent.

“While dietary fats are part of the story in affecting risk of cardiovascular disease, proteins may also have important and largely overlooked independent effects on risk,” said Gary Fraser, MB ChB, PhD, from Loma Linda University. “This new evidence suggests that the full picture probably also involves the biological effects of proteins in these foods,” he said. He also stressed on how there had been more focus on good fats and bad fats by nutritionists that the role of proteins have been overlooked.
