American Gods Strawberry Daiquiri Recipe
A few weeks ago, we shared a recipe for a bowl of chilli, inspired by Neil Gaiman’s classic ‘American Gods‘. Shadow, the protagonist in the novel is released from prison a few days early when his wife, Laura dies in a car accident. Stopping at a restaurant on the way home, he eats a bowl of chilli and begins to reminisce how Laura’s chili tasted much better.
Before this, he recalls another memory of Laura; the day he first met her, she was drinking strawberry daiquiris; “He had kissed her good night that night, and she had tasted like strawberry daiquiris, and he had never wanted to kiss anyone else again.”
Shadow’s relationship with Laura is a major focal point of the novel. So, today, we’re recreating the drink she had when they first met. A daiquiri is a classic cocktail made with rum, citrus juice, a sweetener and additional flavours. Have this strawberry daiquiri as a pre-dinner drink.
