Game Of Thrones: Honey Cakes Recipe
Winterfell is abuzz with reunions this season and we’re loving the the wolf pack is finally coming together! After all that the Stark children have gone through, let’s celebrate their reunion with their mother, Catelyn’s childhood favourite – Honey Cakes!
“She still remembered the innkeep, a fat woman named Masha Heddle who chewed sourleaf night and day and seemed to have an endless supply of smiles and sweet cakes for the children. The sweet cakes had been soaked with honey, rich and heavy on the tongue, but how Catelyn had dreaded those smiles.”
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in warm ale and leave aside till it starts to froth.
- In a food processor, grind the almonds and sugar then mix them in a bowl with flour and salt.
- Making a small well in the mixture, add the yeast to the well.
- Mix in the flour, little by little in the yeast till the mixture is smooth.
- Leave it aside to rest in a warm place for one to one and a half hour to rise.
- Knead the dough and make 12 buns from it and leave this for 15 minutes to rise a little more.
- Bake it in the preheated oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes till golden in colour.
- Cut a 1/2 inch hole on top of each bun and pour-in 1/2 tbsp honey in each of them before serving.
