Revelling In Authentic Chinese Delicacies At China House In Mumbai
Adorned with gorgeous Chinese artefacts; with open kitchens where one can see the cooks whipping fresh, steaming hot meals and a separate lounge, China House at Grand Hyatt Mumbai is an experience in itself. We started off our evening with light snacks like Chilli Chicken, Batter-fried Pomfret, Dimsums and a cocktail at their lounge. The finger food was quite delicious and gave us an insight on just how awesome our meal was going to be. As for the lounge ambience, it is quite relaxing. One can sit and chat with their friends with a round of drinks and delish nibblers after a long day at work to rejuvenate. The music and dim-lit lounge with comfortable couches provide for a relaxed experience. As for the dining experience, read on.
The Dining Experience
We headed on to the dining area of China House at Grand Hyatt Mumbai where Chef Xiang Bin Li had created a spectacular menu for the relaunch of the restaurant. We started off with a soothing Sweet Corn and Chicken Soup with Egg White. The broth was purely enriched with the chicken and vegetables with no over-powering flavours to mar the delicate taste of the soup.
For the mains we tried the Sliced Lamb with Onion, Chili Flakes and Cumin along with Fried Rice with Smoked Bamboo Shoots. The spiciness of the lamb was on point and the flavour of cumin as an after-taste made the dish quite close to home. Chef Li later told us that he has attempted to include subtle Indian touches to authentic Chinese delicacies to bring it closer to the people who come to devour it. The fried rice went really well with the meat and here too we found green peas as a local addition to it.
Coming to the last and the best part of the meal, we ordered Sesame Mixed Berry Taro Rolls with Vanilla Ice Cream. The taro rolls were absolutely heavenly. The berry flavour in the filling was refreshing and the toasted sesame on the warm, crisp rolls lent a lovely after taste. We were satiated and reached food heaven after this spectacular treat. Kudos to Chef Li for making our experience at China House a memorable one.
