Rush To La Piazza, Hyatt Regency For The Yummiest Pizzas In Delhi!
Nestled in New Delhi’s posh Hyatt Regency hotel is one of the Capital’s first Italian trattoria-style dining restaurants, La Piazza, which recently celebrated its 22nd year. And to mark the milestone, the Italian haven had over Chef Ciro Sorrentino, an expert Pizzaiolo, rolling out magic in the kitchen for the restaurant’s 15-day pizza extravaganza starting November 1.
Set in La Piazza’s cozy setting under a blanket of aromatic air wafting in through the restaurant’s wood oven, the pizza fare was made even better for pizza aficionados with a lavish spread of aperitif, desserts, and a selection of fine wines from all across the globe.
In addition to its existing menu, the restaurant served up a promotional menu that packed a culinary punch with an exquisite collection of pizzas including 5 stagioni, Fritta, V Verdure, V Funghi, Tirolese, Positano, Pollo and over eight other varieties of mouth-watering pizzas.
Chef Ciro, who is a third generation Pizza maker in the family and owing to his vast, global experience of over sixteen years, brought along a hoard of unique recipes, scrumptious flavours and intense knowledge of market trends of pizza making.
What We Had
La Piazza had us eating off its salad buffet like hungry maniacs. And we are not be blamed! The spread comprised of a number of vegetarian and non-vegetarian salads that included the likes of grilled mushroom, tomato and mozzarella, pork cutlets, chicken salad, squid salad, and seafood salad to name a few.
We dove into the second – and major – course with parma ham and mozzarella burrata, which was not only a treat for the palate but a gorgeous sight to behold as well. The pizza featured a soft salted dough that was wood-fired to delicious perfection, topped with succulent strips of parma ham, tomatoes and basil. The show-stealer was clearly the dollop of milky Italian burrata sitting atop the piping hot pizza.
The meal saw a number of cameos played by scrumptious and piping hot pasta dishes including a cheesy spaghetti carbonara, spaghetti aglio e olio, a saucy penne arabiatta, and some freshly cooked ravioli drizzled with a flavoursome and buttery sauce.
To put the Sunday meal to a flawless end, the chef put together a creamy tiramisu served in espresso cups. Layered over a base of liquor-doused cake, the coffee cream dusted with coco powder was heaven, to say the least. And the tiramisu was easily on of the best we’ve had on our many food expeditions through Delhi’s Italian foodscape.
Drooling yet? You can still grab a bite of Chef Ciro’s expert creations tomorrow. Hop over to La Piazza now!
