This Spicy Nasi Lemak Flavoured Contraceptive Is Making Us Uneasy
A few weeks back Manforce had us reaching out for some cold water and talcum powder when they announced their notorious pickle-flavoured contraceptives called ‘achaari masti’. And just in case you thought you couldn’t squirm any further, think again. Malaysian condom company, Karex, is planning to spice up (pun intended) your love life with an all-new nasi lemak flavoured condom!
For the uninitiated, nasi lemak is a popular Malaysian comfort food, which is loved for its high level of piquancy. Nasi Lemak, which literally translates to “fatty rice”, consists of rice cooked in coconut milk and served with anchovies, roasted peanuts, a boiled egg, sliced cucumbers, and a side of fiery chili sauce (so basically, here’s a condom with multiple flavours!). It is loved for the abundance of spice in it and is quite a famous street grub in the country, while being a common menu occurrence in upscale eateries as well.
“We Malaysians are divided across our political ideas, religion and race,” Karex chief executive Goh Miah Kiat told AFP from his office in Port Klang, outside the capital Kuala Lumpur. “I felt one thing that unites us all (is): ‘Where’s the best nasi lemak place you’ve been?’“

Kiat further added that not only is this range of unusual condoms a marketing gimmick, but also an attempt to encourage contraceptive use in the Muslim-majority country. “For me, it’s about public health, and I want to get the message across to people,” he said.
In other news, the Indian players are following suit with a rajma-flavoured condom.
