Students Raise Complaints Against Bad Quality Food In Pune College Canteen
The students of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have been complaining for about a year about the Aniket Canteen services for its bad quality food reports the Pune Mirror. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) even told the canteen to cease its services earlier this year and now another complaint has come in from a science student over a spoilt sambhar.
The Case Of Spoilt Sambhar
A complaint was made with the varsity registrar yesterday by the Student Federation of India (SFI) regarding the food quality and the arrogant behaviour of the canteen management. “We got a complaint from a female student about the sambar she was served at the canteen on Thursday. On Friday, there were an unusually high number of students complaining about inadequate food availability at the same canteen,” Satish Debde, SFI president told the Pune Mirror.
“Whenever we go to the Aniket Canteen, the manager says they don’t have chapatis or rotis. Monthly payments are taken from us for a regular mess service — it is the management’s duty to ensure there is enough food for all,” said student Akshay Rangatwan while speaking with the publication. The prices charged by the canteen are professional say the students but the dishes don’t live up to it.
Elaborating on the arrogant attitude of the canteen management, Debde said “Whenever we complain, the canteen manager tells us to take our issues to university officials. So that is what we have done now.” The complaint has been accepted and the registrar Dr Arvind Shaligram told Pune Mirror that, “The complaint will be forwarded to the canteen committee and a decision taken after a discussion.”
