Gear Up For The Travelling Sushi Festival At Shizusan Shophouse & Bar
Shizusan Shophouse & Bar strolled into the culinary scene in Bangalore and absolutely blew our socks off! Now they’re bringing to us the Travelling Sushi festival which I’m sure is going to be brilliant. The man behind the magic is none other than Chef Paul Kinny, so you can expect only the best!
The Travelling Sushi festival which begins on 11th July will have 8 special maki rolls specially created by Chef Paul Kinny that are inspired by cuisines around the world. They promise to add a surprise element in each of them, so be prepared to be amazed!
Chef Paul Kinny says, “It breaks all boundaries when it comes to choice of ingredients and flavours; this menu is inspired by signature local dishes of various regions and is a result of months of research and experimentation.”
Vegetarians have no fear because they have equal options for both the plant eater as well as the carnivore. You can expect to find the Mediterranean Roll with z’atar, zucchini, young pickled spinach, carrots and creamy hummus (of course!). Another interesting vegetarian sushi on the menu is the Greek Maki, rolled with peppers, feta, tzatziki, dill mayo and truffle oil.
For the carnivores, the menu features The Jamaican Roll (that Chef Paul claims to be his personal favourite) uses the trendy activated charcoal that gives the sushi a goth colour and an added health benefit. The sushi is made with crayfish – a South American local seafood – that’s a rare find in India, and spicy jerk mayo. For the kicker, the sushi rice, traditionally cooked with rice wine, is replaced with tequila here!
The Sri Lankan Roll promises to be the most Instagrammable sushi on the menu with beetroot rice that lends a beautiful pink colour, spicy crabmeat, coconut cream, sambal and the Sri Lankan staple snack – yam crisps. Peking Duck, the signature dish in Beijing, has taken the form of a sushi form in the Shizusan kitchen too.
So head on over to Shizusan for what we can promise will be the Sushi festival of the year and don’t forget to mix and match with their signature Asian cocktails!
