Walmart To Use Blockchain System To Keep Food Quality In Check
According to a report by Money Control, Walmart has talked to its suppliers to put the data of fresh produce and leafy vegetables on a blockchain tracking system. This system will be installed by September next year and will contain all the information related to the produce.
Produce Safety First
The blockchain system is an open and accessible one and if a problem is detected in one of the produce batches, the company can trace all details on how it has been handled right at the farm till it reaches someone’s home. The report by Money Control also reveals that this new system has come up as a collaboration between Walmart and IBM Cloud.
It also explains that usually supply chains take about a week to trace the source of the produce but in the case of this new technology it’ll only take merely 2.2 seconds.
