Oktoberfest, if you’ve been living under a rock, is the world’s largest beer festival. Held annually in Munich, Bavaria and Germany it lasts for about 18 days and is filled with great beer, great food and lots of music. Originally a folk festival, it has now become something so much more. Bars and pubs all over the world now celebrate Oktoberfest as well, with Bavarian food options and lots of beer on tap to offer. It’s a huge part of the Bavarian culture and has been an important festival since 1810. Internationally, the festival happens outdoors with amusement rides, stalls and games. It’s a loud and boisterous party that almost never ends.

While it’s called Oktoberfest, it doesn’t extend all the way into October. It starts on the third Saturday of September and ends at the beginning of October. While Chennai has strict alcohol laws and there can’t be any public consumption of beer or any other alcohol, a few pubs in the city are still bringing the celebration to you.
