Popular Food Chain Chipotle Bids Adieu To Chorizo

on

After being a popular ingredient at Chipotle made out of pork and chicken chunks, chorizo is being phased out by the food chain as reported by Eater. Instead the food chain is focusing on its newly introduced dip – queso. It’s traditionally made with melted cheese and chilli pepper. Eater further reports that chorizo wasn’t really the most popular ingredient on Chipotle’s menu. However the food chain is not using the same reason to phase it out.

“When we decided to move forward with the national rollout of queso, we opted to replace chorizo on the line with queso, so chorizo is going away. While we really liked the chorizo (and many customers did too), the efficiency of our model has always been rooted, in part, in doing just a few things so we can do them really well.” Chipotle spokesperson Chris Arnold told CNBC.

In fact, last year, Eater’s New York Chief Critic Ryan Sutton had said, “Chipotle, against all odds, found the 1 percent of chorizo that tastes like garbage.” The New York Senior Critic of Eater wasn’t too pleased either. “Would I go back and get a Chipotle chorizo burrito of my own volition? Not in a million years,” she wrote.

Things are not looking up for the newly introduced, queso too as the initial reviews haven’t been too great. Check them out below:-
