Brocolli Paruppu Usili Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 Broccoli Bunch
- 1/4 cup of Thur dal
- 1/4 cup of Urad Dal
- 2 Red Chill
- a Pinch of Hing
- salt to taste
- pinch aof Turmeric
For tempering
- 1 teaspoon of Oil
- 1 teaspoon of Mustard Seeds
- 1 teaspoon of Split Urid dal

Instructions
- Place the dals in a bowl of water and soak overnight. Alternately, you can soak the dal in hot boiling water for 2 hours.
- Pluck the florets from the bunch.
- First, saute the broccoli separately in a pan.
- Place a pan on high heat and add some oil
- Now, add mustard seeds.
- When the mustard seeds starts to sputter, add split urid dal and fry them till they turn golden brown color.
- Add brocolli florets and stir well.
- Add salt and turmeric and saute the florets in oil in medium-high flame for 5 minutes.
- Take out the cooked and seasoned broccoli from flame to a plate.
- Proceed to prepare crumbled dal (Usili).
- Wash the dal and grind it in mixer once along with red chilli, hing and salt without adding water
- The ground mixture should be coarse.
- Heat the oil in the pan, and add the ground paste and keep the flame in low
- Allow the ground paste to cook in oil and it will crumble down into smaller pieces. Finally add the cooked broccoli and mix well with the crumbled dals.
