Maharashtra State Govt To Take A Stand On Outside Food In Cinema Halls
The state government of Maharashtra has been instructed by the Bombay High Court to take suggestions from the association of multiplexes and take a stand on allowing outside food in the theatres reports The Hindu. Currently, the movie theatres do not permit outside food and collect it from the movie goers till the time they are in the auditorium.
The Intervention Of The Court
As reported earlier, the court intervened in this practice of movie theatres frisking the customers and not allowing them to take food and water inside due to a public interest litigation filed by a resident, Jainendra Baxi. The litigation that Baxi filed with the help of his lawyer said that there is no such legal or statutory restriction on carrying food or water in the movie theatres.
Justice R.M. Borde and Rajesh Ketkar have also directed the Home department to take suggestions which will be submitted by petitioners. The State has sought the time of two weeks to take the suggestions.
