Bears Eating Their Way Through The Headlines. Again.

Bears are known for their love for honey – at least this particular yellow-colored crop top wearing bear is. Btu turns out its not just honey! A bear broke into a bakery in Colorado last week and licked off all the pie plates. And that wasn’t enough for the furry family; they are once again in the news for going into a food coma after eating tens of pounds of dog food.

Sigh! Hunger makes us do crazy things.

The Colorado Cockup

A bear broke into a Colorado bakery and ate 24 pies, as well as several bags of ingredients.

The mischievous bear entered the Colorado Cherry Company by breaking through a window and climbing onto the oven, where he ate two dozen pies as well as bags of cocoa and a bag of sugar.

While it sounds as if the bear was indiscriminate in his tastes, he actually had quite the discerning palate. “He went for the apple and the cherry and left behind the strawberry rhubarb, so he was a picky little guy,” Mikaela Lehnert said.

The morning after the pie raid, Lehnert and her mother arrived to find their store in shambles, with two boxes in the yard. And, with 24 pies devoured without a trace, they have reason to believe that the bear enjoyed his dining experience – and may return.

Despite the damage, the publicity from the strange break-in has been much appreciated. “If anything it’s boosted our business because it put our pies and product out there.” Well duh-uh if a bear likes your food, it has to be good!

The Florida Fiasco

This one’s hilarious! Well what did you think, it involves a bear getting drowsy on bags full of dog food!

One homeowner in Florida was nevertheless shocked to see a black bear doing just that on her lawn, after the animal stole a 20-pound bag of dog food from the garage and tucked in for a big meal.

One of the woman’s neighbors said he’s used to having folks call him for help catching annoying animals, but Saturday’s plea for assistance went beyond the usual pesky critters: she said there was a big bear in her backyard.

As soon as he caught sight of a huge black bear asleep on the lawn, he knew he wouldn’t be disturbing the big guy from his slumber. Upon closer inspection, he saw a 20-pound bag of dog food that the bear had stolen from a garage nearby and dragged to the shade of a tree. He watched as the bear tossed and turned for a bit, not unlike humans trying to snooze on a full belly. 

Though it’s unclear if the bear was able to get a good nap in after eating so much, or how long he stayed, another neighbor snagged the leftover dog food and locked it up to keep the animal coming back for more.

The similarities between humans and bear necessities are uncanny!
