The Chronicles Of Narnia Turkish Delight Recipe
When it comes to fantasy, there’s a lot of focus on Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. Today, we’d like to draw attention to an earlier fantasy series that has earned its place as a classic; The Chronicles Of Narnia.
The Chronicles Of Narnia
Written by CS Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of seven fantasy novels that are set in Narnia, a world of magic, beasts and various children’s involvement with the world.
Major characters in The Chronicles of Narnia are the children of the Pevensie family; Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. In the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Edmund gets tricked by the White Witch who captures him by offering him magical Turkish Delight, which sets the rest of the plot in motion.
Turkish Delight
The Turkish Delight that the White Witch gives Edmund is magical; she creates it in seconds using her powers. Real life Turkish Delight is a little harder to make; its confection that combines gel, starch and sugar.
The sweet is said to originally be from Istanbul and can be made in a variety of different ways using honey, molasses, dried coconut, lemon peel and bitter orange.
Interestingly, after The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe was released as a movie in 2005, sales of Turkish Delight rose.
