Doctor Who Crispy Duck Pancakes Recipe
With the end of the sixth season of Game of Thrones, we’ve turned our attention to another fictional world; Dr Who. In Dr Who, reincarnations of a doctor travel through time thanks to TARDIS a time machine he built along with companions like Rose Tyler. We’ve already shared one recipe inspired by Rose Tyler; a delicious nut loaf which the doctor suggests she cook for her mum for Christmas. Today we thought we’d explore Dr Who’s references to –
Chinese Food
Chinese was a type of food served in London; Rose asks her boyfriend Mickey whether he would like Chinese or Pizza while Elton Pop fantasises about crispy duck in Love & Monsters. Crispy Duck sounds tempting, doesn’t it?
Crispy duck is a traditional Chinese dish, popularly served with pancakes and chili plum sauce. After making this crispy duck, spread plum sauce (or jam) over a pancake and roll the pancake into a cylinder. Enjoy for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

- 4 duck legs
- 1 tsp Five spice powder
- 1 tsp Sichuan peppercorns
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp honey
- 200 ml chicken stock
Ingredients

- Allow the duck legs to marinade in these spices overnight.
- Preheat and oven to 200C.
- Roast the duck legs in a pan on a stove for five minutes on each side.
- Place the duck legs in a baking dish and coat them with the honey.
- Our in the chicken stock and bake for 20 minutes.
- Reduce the temperature to 140C and bake for another hour.
- Take out of the stove and allow to cool completely.
- Remove the meat from the bone, roll into the pancakes and enjoy.
