Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Supply Chain Startup ‘Lemon Leaf’ Raises Angel Funding
Delhi-based RP2 Ventures Pvt. Ltd, which runs fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain Lemon Leaf has raised its first round of external funding from two angel investors.
According to a report by VCCircle, the head of operations, Praveen Kumar said that the funding was raised mainly to set up the company’s processing facility at Dwarka, which has the capacity of processing 50,000kg of products a day.
Lemon Leaf markets themselves as a supplier that cleans their fruits and vegetables using ozonated water, aided by ultrasonic technology, which gives the fruits and vegetables longer shelf life. “We remove the surface pesticides and microbes, and make it fit for consumption without even washing the fruits of vegetables,” Kumar told VCCircle.
The company currently processes and packages 15 vegetables and sells a total of 1,500kg every day. They hope to expand and sell 15 more vegetables soon. Lemon Leaf sells their items through organized retail and standalone vegetable vendors around the city.
Also, the one-year old company doesn’t procure the vegetables from farmers, but gets them from commission agents at Azadpur Mandi, known as Asia’s biggest wholesale fruit and vegetable market.
