Bangalore Brew Works – The newest brewery in town.

on

When we heard about another brewery opening up in Bangalore, we couldn’t wait to try it. And Bangalore Brew Works sounded extremely promising. Located on the 10th floor of the Prestige Towers on Residency Road, the brewery is a little hard to find mainly due to the construction happening on either side of the road. But look for the classy sign because it’s worth it!

As soon as you walk in, you know you are going to be treated like royalty. The lift opens up right into the lounge giving you a very penthouse-y feeling. [pullquote] The high ceilings and beautiful pictures of old Bangalore gives an antique ambience combined with the modern touch of a microbrewery. It has a lavish space of 22-thousand square feet with a number of sections depending on where you would be comfortable. [/pullquote]You are greeted with a smiling Victor (the manager of the bar) who you are instantly comfortable with.  Victor and his team have a ‘bicycle’ as their reception desk and behind them are two old barrels and you immediately feel the antiqueness and rustic nature of the bar. While your server takes you to your seat, you can’t help but marvel at the beautiful space around you.

For those of you who want to sit away from the music and not shout to have a conversation, there is a closed indoor section right by the pool. Yes, we casually mention a pool. There is a pool inside the brewery, making Bangalore Brew Works stand out from the other rooftop restaurants in town. Enjoy your view of the pool relaxing by the bar on the side which has taps that will serve their home-brewed beers once their brewery is functional. There is an option of an outdoor seating as well -closer to the DJ and we chose to sit in the partially covered outdoor section because it’s closer to the bar!

The bar is impressive by itself. [pullquote]The colours of the much-loved bottles of liquor and the back lighting provided to the wall blend to create a classy and sophisticated bar. We know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry it wasn’t too pricey! [/pullquote]Their beers were priced at an average of Rs 250 although some of the more less-available beers like the Asahi and Stella Artois were priced at Rs 400. Their brewery hasn’t started yet, but Victor informed us that they will be starting in March. That didn’t have us in the damper as their cocktails and starters were the stars of the night.  We had the Jalapeno Poppers and the Crispy Baby Corn, and we had to hold ourselves not to order more. The Jalapeno Poppers melted in your mouth, and no we aren’t exaggerating. The cocktail of the night for us was the ‘Desert Cake Martini’ which contained rum, Baileys and cream. Well at least that’s what we think (we did have quite a few of these). The winner, however, was the wood fire oven pizza. We have had few across town, but the Bangalore Brew Works pizza is so good, it will have you dreaming about it. Now you know where to go when you are craving a thin-crust

All in all, Bangalore Brew Works lived up to the hype and more. The classic ambience, the well-made cocktails, the pool and of course the pizza combined were spectacular to say in the least. We couldn’t decide whether it would be better at night or during the day. At night, the mellow lighting and the pool are absolutely gorgeous while during the day it has a warm brunch-y feeling with a cool breeze setting the tone. Either way, we cannot wait for their brewery to start. But even without it, Bangalore Brew Works definitely warrantees a visit.
