Patton Oswalt Dining Alone At Arby’s Post Emmy Win Is Heartbreaking

on

The weekend was a riot of glam and celebration as the American TV fraternity set the red carpet ablaze at the 2016 Emmy Awards. While some went home happy to be nominated, the other went ahead to party and celebrate their win. Among the latter was Patton Oswalt, who won an Emmy for outstanding writing on his variety special Talking For Clapping

Oswalt decided to celebrate his win by heading over to a nearby Arby’s joint for a bite. The Ratatouille star shared his “celebratory” picture on Twitter. The star was seen alone outside of an Arby’s with a bottle of liquor and some fast food staring off into the distance. Or maybe just waiting for his food. Who knows? The point is, Oswalt sat there drinking by himself as his shiny golden trophy looked on.

Known for his impeccable comic timing and sense of humor, Patton’s picture came off as sort of funny. It could be rhetoric and plain and simple not-following-the-herd kind of thing. But one can’t not think about the fact that earlier this year, Oswalt’s wife of eleven Michelle McNamara passed away in her sleep at age 46. And also that this Emmy will be the first major award Oswalt has won since his wife’s passing.

Backstage at the awards night, the BoJack Horseman even said in an interview that “it seems like the lights have been turned down 50 percent on everything” since her passing.
