Delicious to spread on a toast for breakfast or dollop in the curry or even a little midnight snack and for the brave few, straight from the jar. Now wait a minute, who doesn’t love peanut butter, right? For years peanut butter was our best friend and when we grew up it became the most avoided snack because it was too tempting to resist and we believed it constituted to weight gain! But it’s now been proved that peanut butter is healthy. So let your guard down and much on this delicious spread. Here are three reasons to eat peanut butter.
1. Good fat
Recent studies have found that peanut butter is full of monounsaturated fat which is very good for the heart. So if you have been indulging in low-fat peanut butter you now have a reason to switch back to the good old favourite.
2. Bursting with nutrition
And if that wasn’t enough, your nutritionist or dietician would have told you to snack on a handful of roasted peanuts once in a day. They will tell you that the reason for eating peanuts is because it has the good fats and it is in fact a lot healthier than people believe. One study even goes on to say that consumption of peanuts or two tablespoons of peanut butter five days a week can lower the risk of developing diabetes by 30%.
3. Aids in weight loss
If you are still not convinced peanut butter is good for you then you should know that peanut butter helps in losing weight. It contains a lot of fibre and protein that leaves you full for a longer time thus curbing any urges to binge on food.
