Some Baristas Still Don’t Know Who Oprah Is Or How To Spell Her Name

on

We live in an era where everything is available at the tap of a screen and at the swipe of a card albeit a few human hiccups. Case in point, Starbucks. The coffee giant may have revolutionized our morning cuppa Joe, but some of its baristas sure could use a lesson or two in human nomenclature. You would agree with us if you were one of the many “Air Inns” (Aarons), “All overs” (Olivers), and Marcs with a ‘c’. Or if you were Oprah Winfrey.

Yep, believe it or not, the renowned media mogul’s billion dollar net worth isn’t enough to have her name written on Starbucks cups without the barista confirming the spelling. How do we know? Well, she told us!

In a recent E! News interview, the 64-year-old philanthropist along with Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon talked about mundane daily tasks that they still perform themselves rather than asking their assistants to do them. Oprah and Reese both agreed that making Starbucks runs was something they preferred doing on their own. While on the subject, Winfrey narrated a recent incident when a Starbucks barista asked her name and its spelling. “I just went two days ago and the woman said ‘name?’ and I said ‘Oprah’ and she said ‘how do you spell that?'”, she said.

Now, while we would hate to think even for a minute that a woman, who’s entire empire is built around her face and name, would have to go through the routine of having her name scribbled across a Starbucks cup like us mere mortals, maybe the barista was just doing their job. Heck, if Oprah walked up to me and ordered coffee, I may not even find the words to respond!
