Chili’s Plans To Expand Its Presence In South And West India
Popular Tex Mex chain of restaurants Chili’s American Grill & Bar plans to expand its presence across South and West India in the coming months. At present, the chain has 10 Chilli’s restaurants in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai.

In the past 8 years, TVS Capital Funds, which has invested in Chili’s and owns the controlling stake has facilities the opening of 10 outlets in India. These include outlets at Powai’s Hiranandani complex, Indiranagar in Bangalore and Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.
Chili’s is best known for its Tex-Mex cuisine which includes tacos, Quesadillas, Fresh Mex Bowls, Mix and Match Fajitas and Craft burgers.
Plans To Expand
“We have taken on debt of ₹20 crore from banks to fund the expansion of Chili’s in FY 2017. A city like Bengaluru, for instance, can support at least 8-10 restaurants; so we will continue to expand,” said Ashish Saxena, Executive Director and CEO, Chili’s Grill & Bar, South and West, TexMex Cuisine India to The Hindu.
In the coming months, Chilli’s will open two more outlets in Mumbai, two in Bangalore and one in Chennai. “Each restaurant is set up at an investment of Rs 4-5 crore, and on an average, we are able to churn Rs 7-8 crore in revenues from each restaurant,” Saxena told the Deccan Herald.
Several international fast and casual restaurant chains are looking at India as a growth opportunity. Just yesterday, Pizza Hut announced its plans to double its restaurants in India.
