Dear Zindagi Chow Mein Recipe
In ‘Dear Zindagi’, staring Alia Bhatt and featuring Shah Rukh Khan, a young cinematographer, Kaira (Bhatt), is given a new perspective on life by Shah Rukh Khan who plays a therapist. The entire movie revolves around Kaira making choices; some of them are overt, like who she chooses to date and where she chooses to live while others are more subtle.
In one scene, for instance she spurns a fancy dinner and gourmet fare at a date to enjoy some chow mein – a stir fried noodle dish – on the street on her way home. Some critics have suggested that this was symbolic of her rejecting a lavish, set lifestyle for self-exploration.
We ourselves enjoy bowls of street chow mein late at night – many cities across India have street food vendors which serve an Indianised version of chow mein. However, if you’re too lazy to step out or want to learn to recreate the chow mein at home, here’s a recipe for you to try.
