Delhi Consumes Maximum Amount Of Fat Among All Metro Cities, Says Report
Unhealthy eating and being vulnerable to cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is as common in today’s date as is ordering food online. And as per data collected by health and fitness app HealthifyMe, Delhi has the highest heart related risks due to the high consumption of fat in the Capital. So put your paratha aside, and listen up.
The data, which included numbers from major cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune, was collated across 150 million+ foods, exercise and hydration patterns of Indians and found that Delhi has the highest percentage energy contribution of fat (approximately 30 per cent).
The Reason
In Delhi, the fat consumption is highest and so is the risk of heart diseases and hypertension. A lot of this fat is attributed to the city’s ‘regular’ food, which includes fat-rich preparations like puris, parathas, kachoris, and the likes. Moreover, the majority’s incessant need to wash down their meal with dairy-based products, though healthy, adds to the overall fat consumed.
Meanwhile, most of our snacks too aren’t any healthy either. For instance, when was the last time you passed on an opportunity to scoff down some pakora, samosa, chips, or rusk with your evening chai? And that’s not all, one look at our whims and fancies when it comes to street food, and youll understand why the Capital is leading the list.
Now top that with burgeoning work and mental stress, a lack of exercise, and an overall morbid lifestyle, and you’ve got the perfect recipe to top every other unhealthy list that there is. And it’s not just about Delhi, the whole country needs to put down that cup of tea and rethink its lifestyle!
