Enjoy These Foodie Getaways Close To Mumbai This Long Weekend
Merry, merry Christmas foodies! This weekend promises to be a joyful one with three days filled with fun, family and lots and lots of food. If you want to take full advantage of the long weekend, why not pack up and head to one of these destinations around Mumbai? They’re incredibly beautiful and each have unique food adventures.
Nashik
Nashik is a popular destination for wine connoisseurs and amateurs alike. It houses the famous Sula vineyards, the York vineyards, the picturesque Soma Vineyards and the luxurious Chateau d’Ori. Each vineyard offers wine tours and tastings.
Lonavala
Lonavala is a green haven for Mumbaikars and is only a two hour drive away! It’s famous for its chikki and delicious fudge; we particularly love the mango fudge from the Royal Lonavala Chikki Center.
Lavasa
If you’re up for a long, winding drive head past Lonavala to Lavasa, a planned township nestled between the Western Ghats near Pune. While it’s still under construction, Lavasa has a variety of restaurants that offer open air dining on a beautiful lakeside promenade with fare such as shawarma, pasta, pav bhaji and burgers.
Mabaleshwar
Mabelshwar is another popular hill station that Mumbai makes a beeline to. It’s particularly famous for its lush, juicy strawberries and since it’s strawberry season we can bet they’ll be better than ever!
Madh Island
If you can’t bear to be away from Mumbai, head to Madh Island, an island that is just thirty minutes away from Malad. It offers a beach getaway that’s close to the city and some delicious seafood. The Resort hotel on the island offers exotic fare that you should definitely try.
Pune
Pune is certainly close enough for a weekend getaway and it has an eclectic collection of restaurants for whatever cuisines you desire. Try Hyderabad House and I’m Lion, Strictly Non Veg for cheap eats. Wholly Crepes, with a vast collection of crepes is a good breakfast option.
