Five Fat Monks Plans To Spread Across India
Mumbai based South East Asian restaurant, Five Fat Monks is planning to take its fare pan-India. In the coming months it will open outlets in Pune and Bangalore.
The Five Fat Monks Story
Started in 2014 under Abhir Khanna, the managing director, Five Fat Monks was one of the first restaurants offering the live kitchen concept in Mumbai.
It allows customers to select sauces, fresh ingredients and other toppings to create a personalized meal. After selecting their combinations, they can watch the chef whip it up.
The ‘about us’ description on the website states “At Five Fat Monks we are inspired by the bold flavours of Southeast Asia. So we draw upon the lively street food culture – but with a twist. We bring to you the freshest ingredients and sizzling sauces to play with. Mix and match toppings and sauces to create a bowl which is as snazzy or soulful as you are. Then watch our chefs work their magic in the live kitchen.”
Franchising Out
According to Franchise India, Five Fat Monks is now looking to expand; it will soon open two outlets in Pune and two in Bangalore.
Over the next three years, it is planning to have 200 to 250 restaurants across India with a total investment of up to 20 lakhs.
