Are You Game For These Limited-Edition KFC Smartphones? #POLL

It’s the age of smartphones, and if it looks good and has a great camera, it sells. And if a renowned tech giantengraved it’s name on the gadget then it’s a sure shot bestseller. Amid a sea of extra competitive smartphones, fast food chain KFC has rolled out its very own smartphone in partnership with Huawei in China.

No, we’re not joking. A bright red KFC phone actually exists in China and the Chinese couldn’t be fonder of this fried chicken giant! The limited-edition phone has been released to commemorate KFC’s 30^th anniversary since its launch in 1987 (a date that even comes inscribed on the back of the phone).

According to Forbes, the phone is a version of the Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus, which is a mid-range phone that’s only available in limited markets. It has a 5.5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 435 SoC, a 12MP camera, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. The sensor shares the back with a laser-etched Colonel Sanders logo on the special edition phone.

KFC announced the phone on its Weibo page this week. And given Google Translate’s not so reliable translations of Asian languages, we’ll just give you a gist of what the announcement read. The phone has been made in collaboration with Huawei, has a special music function, and only 5000 pieces of the scarlet gadget will be up for grabs in China.

Additionally, the smartphone comes with 10,000 “K dollars,” a digital currency used by KFC in China. There’s also a pre-installed music app that lets you create playlists and share them in the restaurant. The following video accompanied the announcements, and the only thing we can make of it is that the phone can turn anything into a party.

Sounds exciting enough to own? Then fly yourself over to China to grab one of these phones, but be warned that the gadget – especially the cellular service – may not work in most places. Moreover, the Android 7.0 operating system on the KFC phone will lack Google services as it is made for China.

This is not the first time the fast food magnate has forayed in the gadgets arena. Back in June 2016, KFC India launched a tech-savvy Watt a Box that came with an inbuilt power bank and cables for charging your smartphone while you ate.
