on

We live in a highly advanced age where almost everything we require to go about our daily lives is available either at a press of a smartphone button or a few miles away at some multi-aisled supermarket. Right from home basics, kitchen appliances, and food to clothes, medicines, and services. Moving in on that list for Indian consumers is pre-sliced fruits. Yep, we’ll soon have access to pre-peeled and sliced fruits at a supermarket near us, courtesy German company FOOD freshly, which deals in fresh-cut fruits and vegetables.

The company recently shook hands with exotic fruits importer IG International and will launch sliced fruits under the name of FOOD freshly India that will be packaged to remain fresh for 10 days. And under the collaborative umbrella, IG International will look after fruit procurement and marketing while FOOD freshly will help in provide technology, equipment, and R&D.

“We are soon planning to launch cut-and-sliced apples and pears packaged with shelf-life of over 10 days for easy consumption without any health hazards. Initially, we will reach out to the big cities, including Mumbai,” FOOD freshly India CEO Sukhdev Singh said in a statement.

We have already set up a processing plant in Navi Mumbai and have begun awareness drive and product tasting. We will soon commercially launch sliced apples and pears in Mumbai,” Singh said.

First up to be rolled out will be apples and pears, which will be followed by other fruits that are currently under the lab testing process. Based on the demand for their product, Food freshly India will expand its product portfolio to include other fruits and salads as well.

The fruits and vegetables will all be procured from local growers

According to Singh, In India, the fruits will be available in 80 grams pouch pack and the pilot run of the project will begin in Mumbai, eventually spreading out to other cities, where the number of working women and health conscious audience is growing. These packages will be available in supermarkets, food joints, as well as airlines.
