Girnar Moves The Trademark Violation By BigBasket To Bombay High Court
The popular online retail chain BigBasket has been dragged to court on allegedly infringing the royal trademark of Girnar Food and Beverages Pvt. Ltd reports Live Mint. The latter has moved Bombay High Court against the registered opened entities of BigBasket – SuperMarket Grocery Supplies Pvt. Ltd and Innovative Retail.
BigBasket Allegedly Selling Products Under Trademark
“BigBasket is selling several products under the Royal brand, which includes grains, spices, honey and sugar. But Girnar has raised objection to the e-commerce start-up selling tea under the Royal brand,” claimed a Live Mint source. “Girnar Food and Beverage sells several tea brands with many variants, but Royal Cup Tea is its flagship brand,” the person added.
Another source told Live Mint that the matter was taken to court by Girnar on 7th March and the hearing is going to be on 18th June. A reply by BigBasket had come on 4th April and a rejoinder to the reply was filed by Girnar on 5th May. Now BigBasket has sought more time to give a reply to the rejoinder filed by Girnar.
