on

In our neighborhood food guides for Mumbai, we’ve been focusing a lot on South Mumbai. It’s time to move north; here are a few of the best restaurants that you’ll find in the Mahakali caves area in Andheri East. Spend your Sunday evening exploring the caves and then feast away at these eateries.

Hit and Run

Hit

Located near Tolani College, the joint is popular among college students looking for a bite. Popular for their mouth-watering shawarmas, try their Special Chicken Shawarma.

Gulatis

Gulati

As old as the Sher-e-Punjab colony itself, Gulatis  serves piping hot chhole bathure and ghee (clarified butter) fried  samosas. The food makes up for the lack of chairs or space. If you are craving for Punjabi food, Gulatis will not leave you disappointed. Do try their hot crispy jalebis as well.

Eva’s Pizza

Eva

Eva’s Pizza is a known name in Andheri East  and just opened their Mahakali outlet. And they live up to their name. Hurricane, Chicken supreme and Eva’s Special are must-haves and for pork lovers, the Meatzaa with bacon, sausages and ham will give you a foodgasm. The seating is cramped and people generally prefer takeout or home deliveries.

Sun Moon and Potatoes

This hidden gem serves a wide range of Italian and European dishes. The place has a decent ambience with limited seating. You may have to wait for a while during office lunch hours. However your patience is rewarded as the joint offers delicacies like chicken wrapped prawns, devil wings (chicken is bbq sauce), and chicken lasagna. They also have a good range in sizzlers- try the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Drinks are affordable with beer (650ml) priced at 230 onwards. The staff is courteous and friendly.

Viaan

Viaan

Part of Ginger Hotels, Viaan has gained prominence for their Sunday brunches and buffets priced under INR 600 per person. The place has a nice ambience and the staff is quite helpful. The Chinese fare is better than the Indian. Try their soups, starters and desserts.

Gajalee

Gajalee is well known across Mumbai for its fresh, delicious seafood, prepared Malvani style. Try their Tandoori lobsters, Bombil fry and Rawas curry.
