A new café that opened at Rutland Gate not too long ago has been creating a buzz for a while. Being the curious foodies that we are, we decided to make a stop there and have a little experience of the café ourselves. If you thought this city was missing out on a quirky café with a most entertaining concept, you thought wrong. Etc Restaurant & Café takes dining to a whole other level of fun with their uniquely designed ambiance, interiors, quirky décor, and games. Yes, games! While the restaurant-dining concept stays at their lower floor, their first floor is filled with quirky accessories and games that you can play at your tables, like the classic Ludo, and a life-size Snakes & Ladders on the wall. You can also find a little nook with books, made specially for all the readers and bookworms. But if you’re here to just enjoy some calm ambiance, head outdoors and check out their tea-shop dining area, or their beachside-themed dining space with boats and fishnets. The roof is transparent making this space the perfect place to enjoy a little meal on a rainy day!

The food at Etc is anything but ordinary. One bite was all it took to have us falling head over heels for it. Their menu has just about everything and is guaranteed to satisfy your cravings any time! Looking at the menu, you’ll find a great collection of International, Indian, and Asian dishes and also a delectable list of desserts. We had a quick chat with Mr.Arun K, the executive chef, and learnt about his passion for food, being the man behind the menu. Having been trained in the US, Chef Arun returned more ready than ever to take on a wider range of cuisine and he delivers nothing less than the best, here at Etc. If you’re on the run, there’s a bunch of pre-cooked meals that you can choose from, all available at their café upstairs. This restaurant and cafe is undoubtedly the perfect place to have a great meal with friends or family, and also celebrate special occasions. A private space is available on request and can cater to a large gathering, making it an ideal place for birthdays, anniversaries, and more. At the end of it all, what really made our day was the food and atmosphere. It is sure to keep us coming back for more, and when you experience it all, you’ll feel the same way too.

Virgin Madras

A madras-style refresher. You need to try this.

Crispy Mushroom and Cheese Balls

A generous mixture of mushrooms and cheese, deep fried. What a way to begin a meal, with something that gets your taste buds ready for a burst of flavour.

Disco Fries

This amazing, and yet again generous, portion of french fries was topped with a delicious and juicy chicken mince that had us all ready to disco!

BBQ Chicken with Caribbean Rice

We are definitely going back for this. This dish is a flavourful mix of beans and rice along with a smoky barbecue chicken and a helping of buttered veggies to make you smile.

Suchimu-Gyo

For something a little different, we tried a Japanese dish of steamed fish that’s stuffed with prawns on the inside, and oh my goodness, was it heavenly! The herb rice went perfectly with the dish too.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

For dessert, we went with something we couldn’t resist. As the name suggests, this cake is loaded with chocolate, lots and lots of it! Do give this a try, we’re sure you will love it.
