The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival Is Back This Week With Some Exciting Food Events And Workshops
Mumbai’s iconic Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is back in full swing. This year, it’s on from February 4th until February 12th, presenting Mumbaikars with over a week of artists’ installations, design (both fashion and interior) stalls and a collection of famous personalities from actors to chefs to artists hosting and participating in talks and workshops.
Like we did last year, we’ve collated a list of all the food events, workshops and talks you can look forward to over the week. Mark your calendar!
Monday 6th February
The Travelling Belly
Time: 6 – 7pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Kalyan Karmakar will be discussing his recently launched ‘The Travelling Belly’ on a panel also featuring Vikram Doctor, Kurush Dalal and Kunal Vijayakar.

Cooking with the Royal Thai Consulate General
Time: 7 – 8pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Chef Racthaphum Sonsi of the Royal Thai consulate in Mumbai will teach attendees to whip up three easy and delicious Thai dishes.
Tuesday 7th February
Bajaj Electricals presents Crumbs! Breaking Down The Classic Focaccia
Time: 7-8 pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Bajaj Electricals will be hosting a talk by Saee Koranne – Khandekar’ who will discuss her book “Crumbs! Food Stories and Recipes for the Indian Kitchen.” In the book, she focuses on the bread making tradition in India’s culinary scene.

Authenticooking with Smita Deo
Time: 8 – 9pm
Venue: Cross Maiidan
Chef Smita Deo, who is an expert in the lesser known Karawar, Kohlapur and Maharashtrian cuisines will be exploring Kohlapuri and Karwari fare with recipes from her book.
Wednesday 8th February
Surprise Cakes!
Time: 5 -6pm
Venue: Wisk at Kala Ghoda
Wisk by Cakesmiths’ culinary and baking studio is inviting attendees to watch Wisk’s pastry chefs create cakes with a surprise.
Rushina’s Party Ideas with Morphy Richards
Time: 6 -7 pm
Venue: Westside
Head to Westside to learn how to make sun dried tomato pesto, sriracha oven fries and a strawberry chocolate microwave cake.
Bajaj Electricals presents To the T
Time: 8 -9 pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Tarika Singh, a food blogger, recipe developer, YouTube host and the winner of the Best Baking Blog 2015 will be whipping up two delicious desserts.
Thursday February 9th
Chef’s Basket presents Climbing the Cocoa Tree
Time: 7 – 9pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Pastry chef Ruhee Bhimani shows off her signature eggless desserts.
Friday February 10th
Cheese Appreciation by Dr. Aditya Raghavan
Time: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
Venue: Artists’ Center
Dr Aditya Raghavan will take you through the techniques and preparation practices that go into a range of cheeses around the world.
How To Eat Ayurveda
Time: 7 – 8pm
Venus: Cross MAidan
Ayurveda is an age old tradition in India. Amrita Rana will take audiences through eating for your body type and adopting an Ayurveda lifestyle.
Choco Loco with Varun Inamdar
Time: 8-9 pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Varun Inamdar, the Ambassador of Ecuadorian coca in India will be exploring chocolates and cocoa.
Saturday February 11th
FOOD WALK: The LG Tadka Tour with The Tiny Taster
Time: 10:30 – 11:30 am
Where: Westside
Roxanne Bamboat, aka The Tiny Taster will take you on a culinary tour through Kala Ghoda. It’s first come first serve, so be there early!
The Wholesome Kitchen
Time: 8 – 9 pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Chef Pooja Dhingra of Le 15 fame will be hosting a workshop on cooking hearty meals and luscious desserts.
Creative Masterclass by Chef Hemant Oberoi
Time: 7 – 8 pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Celebrated Chef Hemant Oberoi will demonstrate using vintage coal irons to cook delicious fare.
Discovering the Palate
Time: 6 – 7pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Chef Rakhee Vaswani, the chef behind the recently launched Palate Culinary studio will be taking the stage.
Sunday February 12th
Spiced Up Stories with Rushina
Time: 4 – 6pm
Venue: Westside
Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal takes you on a spice journey through Asia Pacific. Discover Indian spices and their counterparts in other parts of the world.
Food on the Go with Ripu Daman Handa
Time: 8 -9 pm
Venue: Cross Maidan
Morphy Richards presents the winner of Masterchef India Season 3 who will teach you about food on the go.

Ananya Banerjee will demonstrate how to cook Doi Begun, Channar Paturiand and Bhapa Doi with an artistic twist.
As well as this plethora of talks and workshops, the Festival will see a variety of food stalls set up show at Cross Maidan and Rampart Row. When at Rampart Row, eat at Chetana, Copper Chimney, Irish House and Mamagoto.
Meanwhile, when at Cross Madian, stop at 212 All Good, The Waffle Truck, Lalit Food Truck, Leo’s Boulangerie, Papa John, Balaji Foods and Chai Pe Charcha.
