Kung Fu Panda 3 Ties Up With Several Food & FMCG Brands In India

Kung Fu Panda 3, which released last Friday, is quickly finding its way into the public’s hearts with its overload of pandas and dumplings. To generate more buzz, the movie franchise has entered deals with seven brands in India including McDonald’s, Horlicks, Ching’s Noodles Krispy Creme donuts.

The Strategy

“I think Kung Fu Panda is one of the very few animated franchises which cuts across kids and families and has also found affinity with the youth. So, we were very clear we needed to have a two-pronged strategy that targeted both,” said Shikha Kapur, chief marketing officer, Fox Star India.

“The whole idea was to package an experiential campaign instead of just a media campaign. Be part of those conversations and intimate spaces that families and kids have together, keeping in mind the dynamism of our culture and the fact that it should be an inclusive experience,” she added.

What Are The Brands Doing?

We’ve already let you in to McDonald’s’ ‘Snackilicious’ Chinese Menu which was created for Kung Fu Panda 3. It includes new schezwan  burger and paneer chilli pockets.

Britannia, meanwhile has created special packaging that features the film while Ching’s Noodles has released a new product; Ching’s Secret Chowmein Instant Noodles that has the tagline ‘I Love Desi’. The ad includes scenes from Kung Fu Panda, while the pack has some fun pictures of Po.

Other brands that are on board are ICICI Bank and Huwaei.
