Michelle Obama’s White House Vegetable Garden Will Stay Intact
A few weeks before Donald Trump assumed office and the former First Family moved out, there was much debate on whether Trump and his clan would wipe Michelle Obama’s sprawling vegetable garden clean or not. And while former President Barrack Obama was affirmative that the garden would be gone, the Trumps have trumped all our fears by deciding to let Michelle Obama’s garden be.
” The First Lady has a deep personal commitment to her role as caretaker and nurturer, beginning with her family. She believes there is a connection between a child’s mind and places of calm and beauty to be used as a tool for us all. As a mother and as the First Lady of this country, Mrs. Trump is committed to the preservation and continuation of the White House Gardens, specifically the First Lady’s Kitchen Garden and the Rose Garden,” Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, senior adviser to the first lady, said in a statement released to CNN.
As reported earlier, the garden, which is spread out over a massive 3,000 sq. ft. area on the South Lawn at the White House, is not just of aesthetic value or for filling the White House plates, but the former First Lady’s well-manicured vegetable garden has formerly been a constant source of fresh fruits and vegetables for state dinners and family meals. Additionally, the excess produce from the garden goes to local nonprofits.

“Gardening teaches us the fundamentals in care and the evolution of living things,” the statement continues, “all while inspiring us to nurture our minds and to relax and strengthen our bodies.”
In October 2016, Michelle Obama revealed an expansion of the green patch. This extension came fortified with cement, stone, and steel to make it a more permanent feature. She also revealed that a sum of USD 2.5m had been secured through private funding, which will be channeled towards the up keep of her garden that will be maintained by the country’s National Park Service.
