Foraying Into The South, Again
Monginis, which began in Mumbai in 1956 first tried to enter the South Indian market twenty years ago and had set up a plant in Hyderabad. However, it soon withdrew as the market was not ready for Monginis model.
Ashok Nair, chief operating officer, Monginis Food, said, “We have revived our old factory in Hyderabad, the only one in South till now, which was established nearly 15-20 years back but was shut down as the franchise market had not developed in the city at that time. However, the model has matured now and we have re-entered the market by reviving the factory at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore that will cater to the 100 stores opening up in Telangana.”
Additionally, the company is looking at opening another plant in Andhra Pradesh by 2018. These plants will distribute Monginis products to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Bangalore.
Monginis has a presence in North and West India with over 700 outlets in major cities like Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Nashik, Pune and states like Rajasthan, Goa and Odisha. Monginis menu includes cakes, pastries, muffins, Swiss rolls, cookies and chocolates.
