Oprah Just Dropped Her Cookbook And Frankly, We Can’t Deal
Last June, Oprah Winfrey dropped the news that January 3rd will see the release of her new cookbook titled Food, Health and Happiness: ‘On Point’ Recipes for Great Meals and a Better Life, and much like the title, the release of the cookbook too has been on-point and on-time.
Being the latest celeb to have hopped on to the celebrity cookbook bandwagon, Lady O brings to our kitchen – and lives – 115 recipes, with healthy-sounding dishes like “unfried” chicken, turkey chili, “sexy breakfast”, miso glazed soup, and pasta primavera. And although, this isn’t her first time being associated with a cookbook (in 1994, Oprah’s chef Rosie Daley penned In the Kitchen With Rosie: Oprah’s Favorite Recipes), it is her debut as a cookbook author.
The billionaire is known to be pro health and fitness. And if her stake in Weight Watchers and similar enterprises is anything to go by, Lady O is not backing down on the fitness front anytime soon.

Published by Macmillan imprint Flatiron Books, the cookbook packs some solid content along with layout and that are ‘on-point’. The cookbook, which has already climbed up to number one in Amazon’s “U.S. Regional Cooking, Food & Wine” category, ahead of Ina Garten’s Cooking for Jeffrey, also features “a candid, behind-the-scenes look” into the media mogul’s life and kitchen alongside personal essays.
The book’s description reads: “It’s been both a source of delight and comfort for her, but also the cause of an ongoing struggle with her weight. In Food, Health, and Happiness, Oprah shares the recipes that have allowed eating to finally be joyful for her.”
“As long as I can remember, I’ve been the kind of person who wants to share the things that make life better,” Oprah told People in a statement. “When I come upon something useful, something that brings me pleasure or comfort or ease, I want everyone else to know about it and benefit from it, too. And that is how this cookbook came to be. It’s my life story — the lessons I’ve learned, the discoveries I’ve made — told through food.”
After celebs like Chrissy Teigen, Tom Brady, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lady Gaga foraying into the cookbook arena, Oprah’s culinary venture has left us all wondering whether we need to dedicate a separate section on the bookrack for just celebrity cookbooks. And while you make up your mind about that, you can order Winfrey’s cookbook here.
