Ingredients
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 medium-sized onions cut into 1/4 inch slices
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 8 kosher hot dogs boiled or char grilled
- 8 hot dog buns
- spicy brown mustard as needed
- cooked sauerkraut as needed

Instructions
- Heat oil on medium flame in a medium-sized saucepan.
- Saute onions in the oil till soft.
- Add honey, cinnamon, chilli powder and stir.
- After cooking for about a minute, add ketchup, water, hot sauce, salt and black pepper.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes till the sauce gets a thick consistency.
- Remove from heat and cool down the sauce in a bowl.
- This sauce can be stored for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
- Put the hot dogs into the bun.
- Add mustard to the bottom half of each bun.
- Top the hot dog with the onion sauce and sauerkraut or either of the two according to preference.
