Rooftop Restaurants In Mumbai Have Been Legalised
The rooftop policy for restaurants has been approved on Thursday by the general body of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) according to the report by the Hindustan Times. This policy, says the report allows the eateries to function as terrace restaurants on the rooftops on malls and hotels.
Rooftops Approved After Recent Incident
The report further says that policy has been given way two days after the fire breakout at a rooftop restaurant at Kamala Mills. This has attracted attention of some political leaders like Ravi Raja who talked to the publication and said, “How can they pass a policy without discussing it with the councillors? The policy was already rejected in the improvement committee last year. After what happened in Kamala Mills, we can’t take chances with the policy.”
