Spoonbill’s Oktoberfeast Will Have You Feasting Like There’s No Tomorrow

on

It’s that time of the year when the famous German festival, Oktoberfest, is celebrated and if you’re looking to experience a little Oktoberfest yourself, head to Spoonbill from Sept 25th to Oct 4th! Located in Alwarpet, this cozy café dishes out the best of street food across the globe all day, and is now giving Chennai a little taste of the Oktoberfest from Germany. Being a family hub, the menu offers the best of non-alcoholic beer, but a great menu of German specials that everyone can enjoy! Aptly termed, Oktoberfeast (yes, feast), the menu allows you to taste the best and most popular dishes from the festival in Germany.

Spoonbill has been hosting the Oktoberfeast for three consecutive years, and speaking to Mr.Charlie Singh, owner of the restaurant, we learnt a little about this German connection they have going on. As we all know, the German Currywurst is the most popular item on Spoonbill’s menu and folks in the city just can’t seem to get enough of those amazing, homemade sausages, thanks to their German consulting chef. They also cater to a German community and we’re sure the Germans in the city are thankful for this fest that Spoonbill has set up.

What makes the Oktoberfeast menu special is that it is a compilation of the best and most popular dishes in Berlin and we hear that as the feast-ival progresses here in Spoonbill, the menu will be expanded too. And here’s a little something you will love, the sausages (as if they weren’t awesome already) are cooked in beer and served juicy as ever! The platters give you a little something of everything, so go ahead and feast on it, it only comes by for a few days in a year.

What we had:

Hahnchenschnitzel mit Pommes Frites

1

A classic, crumb-crusted Chicken Schnitzel with French Fries – this is something we will always be in the mood for. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, that’s just the way we like our chicken!

Lammfleisch Bier Bratwurst Feast

This was a delicious and filling platter of the juiciest Lamb Sausages, which were accompanied by a fresh and warm traditional German bread roll known as Brotchen, a simple salted Pretzel, and the most comforting Baked Potato with Sour Cream. Yum!
