Starbucks Sued By A Denver Woman Alleging Severe Burns And Death Of Her Dog

As reported by KDVR, Deanna Salas-Solano from Denver has sued Starbucks claiming that the hot tea caused her serious injuries and killed her dog. She said that the tea bought from a drive thru didn’t have a hot sleeve that led to the tea spillage on her leading to severe burns. She also added that her dog jumped on her lap and coming in contact with the hot tea got serious burns too and died at the emergency vet hospital.

The case is a reminder of the famous Liebeck vs. Mcdonald’s lawsuit in which scalding hot coffee spilled on Stella Liebeck and she required skin grafts and so did Salas-Solano in the current case. Liebeck who suffered from severe burns too got $480,000 in damages.

However, the claim by Salas-Solano that the tea cup has no sleeve isn’t completely true as the video evidence by Starbucks shows that the cup did have a sleeve. However, it couldn’t be found out whether it was secure on the cup or not. Salas-Solano has asked for $100,000 along with damages with regards to her dog’s death.
