Swiggy Launches Marketplace Program ‘Swiggy Packing Assist’ For Restaurant Partners

Swiggy, a popular food delivery service, in order to provide packaging solutions to its restaurant partners has launched a marketplace program reports the Economic Times. This marketplace program has been named ‘Swiggy Packing Assist’ and currently has packaging solutions for about 30 products.

Swiggy Packing Assist can help restaurants connect with vendors who sell packaging material which is eco-friendly and are food grade certified. Thus, the material used by Swiggy’s restaurant partners for packaging can be leak-proof, sturdy, and stackable as well as heat insulating. To add an extra benefit, the vendors are even ready to give restaurants a 5 percent discount. This program is already in place for restaurants in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru and will expand to other cities in the coming three months.

But Swiggy is not the only one going eco-friendly. The Economic Times further reports that Zomato also gives customers an option to give up on plastic cutlery while placing the order. However, the way Swiggy is going about it will enable the company to do away with plastic packaging altogether. Swiggy Packing Assist will also be introducing eco-friendly meal trays along with packaging material made using corn-starch and bagasse. Not only this, the company is also in touch with various design consultants and manufacturers to enhance the packaging quality available.
