This ‘Ted’ Themed Café Is Taking Over Japan!
Remember Ted from, well, Ted? The absolutely adorable lump of fur that was the most “aww” thing you saw in 2012, until the bear opened its mouth, that is. Turns out that the walking-talking stuffed toy is back in vogue, this time in Tokyo, Japan.
A Ted themed Café and Bar has popped up in Japan’s capital. Called ‘Ted Café and Bar’, the place is constantly line with people waiting their turn to snap a quick picture with a giant version of Ted. Situated on the second floor of a building in Tokyo’s bustling Shibuya neighborhood, the themed restaurant is a tongue-in-cheek ode to the Seth MacFarlane’s 2012 movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, and its 2015 sequel starring Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried.
Serving up a menu packed with dishes that resemble the celebrated teddy bear – for example a ‘Ted Face Pizza – to beverages inspired by the same, the Café & Bar’s other elements fail to steal the décor’s thunder. Well, they have a giant version of Ted, for crying out loud! And that’s not even the beginning. The place features outrageous elements like a chandelier sporting dangling bras to various quotes from the franchise slapped across the wall. Yep, even the most obnoxious ones.
In addition to the madness, the Ted Café and Bar has at least one stuffed Ted seated at every table. Although a bit creepy, we’d be lying if we said that we don’t secretly hope the stuffed toy would magically come to life and talk to us as we eat.
The place has been received well by locals and visitors – for obvious reason. Um, hello? Have you not seen Ted, and more importantly, did you not read “giant teddy bear”?
